The image of the Abbasid caliphs (132 AH / 247 AH) in the books of the latecomers: The History of the Caliphs by Al-Suyuti as an example

Abstract

This research dealt with the study of the image of the Abbasid caliphs (132 AH - 344 AH) through the book History of the Caliphs, by Al-Suyuti, who is considered one of the prominent personalities that appeared during the tenth century AH (the fifteenth century AD), which combined the sciences of the Qur’an, the hadith of the Prophet, jurisprudence, mysticism, and fundamentals Language sciences, literature, history, translations, medicine and other sciences, as the book contained a clear depiction of the Abbasid caliphs from various political, economic and social aspects , and accurate details about their lives and their role in building the Abbasid state. The research has tried to clarify the position of Al-Suyuti - who is one of the late historians - towards the Abbasid caliphs through what he drew from a picture of the Abbasids and it was shown through a narration of the historical accounts of the history of the Abbasid caliphs (132 AH - 344 AH) Al-Suyuti did not criticize the narrations, nor analyze them, nor comment on them, and he contented himself with quoting them from their narrators, and he did not analyze the historical narrations that were transmitted to make sure of their validity, as Al-Suyuti did not bother to search and investigate the historical narrations that he narrated from the Abbasid caliphs, and we did not find him a special comment about the pictures. which he mentioned, which were often contradictory, The research came in an introduction and eight titles followed by the conclusion and an inventory of sources and secondary references. After the introduction, I dealt with the definition of his name, his nickname and his life, and then the pictures he drew in the passion of the Abbasid caliphs and their immersion in fun, play, competition and struggle over the king and their use of bloodshed as a means to reach power and what he presented. Contradictory pictures of those caliphs. Al-Suyuti presented a contradictory picture of the Abbasid caliphs, as he depicted fun, play, extravagance, extravagance, and the red nights that the Abbasid caliphs lived. And the rivalry between the sons of the Abbasid house, as these pictures took a large margin from the book of the history of the caliphs, which was considered an approach to the Abbasid policy that the Abbasid successors followed, and since the early establishment of their state in the issue of who reaches power
