Analyzing the content of the book ‘ History of Arab Islamic Civilization’ in The light of human rights principles and the degree of Students acquisition to it

Abstract

The research aimed to know: the principles of human rights included in the content of the book, History of Arab-Islamic Civilization for the fourth literary grade. And the degree to which fourth-grade literary students acquire the principles of human rights that are included in the content of the history of Arab-Islamic civilization, and the difference in students’ acquisition of human rights principles according to the gender variable. The research community was represented by students of the fourth literary grade (males and females) in the schools of Karbala Governorate, the Hindi Education Department for the academic year (2021-2022). 76) males and (69) females for the fourth literary grade, and the researcher chose (400) male and female students, (216) male and (184) female. Research tools: - Analysis form (analysis list) the content of the book on the history of Arab and Islamic civilization for the fourth literary grade. It measures three levels (knowledge, discrimination, application). In analyzing the results, the researcher relied on the statistical package for educational and psychological sciences SPSS. The results that were reached are the following: - Weakness of including human rights principles in the history book of Arab Islamic civilization for the fourth literary grade - history book The Arab-Islamic civilization for the fourth literary grade has obtained a percentage in the recurrences. The number of repetitions was (6), and with a percentage of (19.35), and the average acquisition of the principles of human rights by fourth-grade students was (66.66) - females outperformed males in the degree of acquisition of human rights principles. In light of the findings of the research, the researcher came out with a number of recommendations, including: - Emphasizing the inclusion of human rights principles on a large scale in history books in general and history books for the preparatory stage in particular. - Providing curriculum developers with information on the importance of including human rights principles in history books. Because of its effective impact in the teaching of history for the preparatory stage. - Develop a guide on the principles of human rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in (1948 AD), from which the teachers of history can be benefited from in the teaching of history. - The researcher suggested conducting some future studies mentioned in detail in the fourth chapter
