Abstract

Throughout the history of foreign language teaching, it has been always debating how to teach a foreign language. Therefore several different methods were developed and used.In order to carry out these methods effectively in teaching process. In language teaching method is a teaching element which lets students have aims of education reliably and quickly. These methods have been developed to make up other methods’ deficiencies or inadequacies that in use. However, it is frankly understood that there is no perfect method. It is necessary to know about basic principles, boundaries, features and imperfections of the methods. Because of the places where these methods were improved are abroad and knowledge related to the methods is obtained from foreign language sources, it is unavoidable to use second/third references. Besides, the knowledge which can be only acquired in execution environment of methods doesn’t exist adequately in published sources in Turkish language. In these sources, different, less or conflictive information exist related to the focused point of this study “basic principles and usage features of methods”. In this study, it is aimed to detect conflicts, deficiencies and differences on concerned topics and make them up, later on to gather that knowledge under the same study.
