The lexical efforts of Sheikh Fakhr Al-Din Al-Tarihi (1085 A. H. ) in his book Gharib Al-Quran

Abstract

The book (Interpretation of the strange Qur’an) by Sheikh Al-Tarihi (d. 1085 AH) is one of the most important books of interpretation that focused on the linguistic aspect of the interpretation of the Holy Qur’an. Opposites، and Al-Tarihi had good efforts in this field، so the study focused on this aspect، as well as referring to the life of the interpreter and his method of writing. It must be emphasized that the Holy Qur'an is the miraculous holy book in its outward and inward appearance, as it often refers to the figurative use of words, as well as the real use of them.I found that revealing the aspects of lexical significance is a topic worthy of study, and for that I chose one of the most important interpretations in Arabic: Tafsir Gharib al-Qur’an, written by the jurist, the hadith interpreter, “the linguist Sheikh Fakhr al-Din al-Tarihi, who died in the year 1085.”The research methodology required that I divide the study into an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion. In the introduction, I dealt with a general perception of the study and the reason for its selection, and in the first topic we dealt with the phenomenon of synonymy, and in the second topic we devoted to the phenomenon of linguistic differences and in the last topic we dealt with the topic of opposites, and the conclusion came summarizing the most important results obtained from the study and it was found: Al-Tarihi relied on citing hadith Al-Nabawi, poetry and the words of the Arabs in his authorship of the interpretation of the strange Qur’an, and regarding Al-Tarihi’s position on synonymy, as he is one of those who believe in this linguistic phenomenon. He did not ignore the issue of linguistic differences between the Qur'anic terms and presented many examples of this in his interpretation.
