Abstract

The phenomenon of drug addiction and abuse has begun to occupy a place in the interests of local and international public opinion, as it is one of the most dangerous plagues that we suffer from in our current era, due to its frightening spread in recent times, and the seriousness of the effects it leaves on the psychological and physical abilities of individuals, and the tampering with their view of things, their judgments and their ways of life. The harms of drugs are not limited to the individual, but rather extend to include the family and society as a whole, which means the danger of the spread of moral corruption, violence, and organized crime. One of the problems facing society is allowing the issue of drugs to worsen in a country like Iraq. This research is dedicated to supporting the state's activities to combat drugs, and building a media plan that contributes, in cooperation with all official and unofficial state agencies, to reducing drug abuse rates, as the media is one of the tools for combating drugs in the context of the expansion of drugs, and the calls to warn of the danger of the growing phenomenon of drug abuse and trafficking among the world, in addition to the fact that Iraq is now facing the risks of the spread of drug abuse and trafficking, and it is now a popular market for drugs, and there are reports talking about the arrest of 230 drug trafficking networks during the current year, according to local media reports. Hence the importance of the media's participation in its various means for the media campaign to be the leader of this practice.
