Abstract

       Kuwaiti politics at the governmental and popular levels was characterized by support and support of the Palestinian people in their struggle with the usurping Zionist entity, even though Kuwait did not gain its political independence until 1961, as it adopted the issue of trying to find a political entity that would allow it to demand the rights of the Palestinians before the countries of the world. At the conference The first for the Arab League was to decide to establish the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1964, as Kuwait was one of the first Arab countries to agree to its establishment and to adopt its political and financial support. This support continued until the organization’s goals were achieved by obtaining the Arab consensus to be the legitimate representative of the Palestinians in 1974. Kuwait contributed to collecting donations and training volunteers through the camps that were established in Kuwait after the Kuwaiti government allowed their establishment, in addition to agreeing to open a special office for the PLO. Kuwaiti support for the organization continued in all Arab conferences and international forums to demand the rights of the Palestinian people, especially after Kuwait became a member of The United Nations in 1963, and Kuwait also sided with the PLO in its conflict with the Jordanian government in 1970 after sending a delegation to King Hussein and trying to persuade him to stop the fighting, in addition to Kuwait’s national position towards the Arab-Zionist conflict (1967-1973) and its support for the Arab confrontation forces in a way in general and the Palestinians in particular.
