The importance of the topic and the reasons for choosing it lie in several reasons, the most prominent of which is Ibn Khafaja’s poetic stature, as he is one of the most prominent poets of Andalusia, Ibn Khafaja’s interest in friendship, his care for it in his poetry, and the need to study friendship with Ibn Khafajah. In order to enrich the Arab library with such studies, and despite the large number of studies conducted on Ibn Khafaja's poetry, there is no study that dealt with friendship in his poetry, not even the studies that took care of his poetry cared about talking about friendship, as there is no accidental study, nor is it independent of Friendship in the poetry of Ibn Khafajah. In my studies, I followed this thematic approach, and this approach is based on three foundations: the artwork in itself, the artwork in its relationship with the artist, and the artwork in its relationship with the reader. Rather, it is an unlimited number of sensations and feelings experienced by the poet or writer in his life, and the artistic work equates the sensations and feelings, and transmits them as an objective equivalent, and not as they exist on him in life, and if he transmitted as it exists in life, the intended artistic effect would be lost. This approach is one of the critical approaches that are characterized by flexibility, openness, and freedom, and that is based on the fact that the meaning of the poem cannot be taken from one of its parts, away from the other parts.
