Aspects of luxury in the urban side of the city of Samarra

Abstract

Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and the best of prayers and peace be upon our master Muhammad and his family and companions and those who follow him until the Day of Judgment. The city of Samarra was of great historical importance. This importance came through its being the capital of the Abbasid caliphate. For nearly six decades, a number of caliphs alternated in the period of rule of the Islamic state. The city of Samarra, and at the end of his rule he moved to Baghdad. The Abbasid caliphs cared in Samarra clearly and greatly in the field of urbanization, and we find a large number of palaces built during the period between (221-279 AH), Which exceeded in building the limit of the state’s need for palaces, so the matter reached that the life of luxury and extravagance entered the field of urbanization in a very large way, which made historians, as well as other buildings from the large mosques, and other facilities of the city, in addition to paying attention to the issue of irrigation through the incision Many canals and short rivers. The first topic dealt with the manifestations of luxury in the dwelling and the role, while the second topic came under the title of the manifestations of luxury in building palaces, canals and water canals, in which the researcher mentioned the construction of all the palaces that were built during this period
