Abstract

Archaeological survey means the effort made by specialists in antiquities to locate and inventory archaeological sites and monuments, inventory their horizons and space, and describe their remnants and material remains that appear above the surface of the earth, such as architectural elements, walls, buildings, and archaeological finds such as pottery, metal, glass, and others, using topographic maps, aerial photographs, and scientific methods and methods used in uncovering the largest A number of archaeological sites without excavation work. In the beginning, the archaeological survey was nothing more than a preliminary procedure before the excavation, through which it determines its space and framework. However, with the passage of time, the archaeological survey has become an intended goal and a self-contained specialization, like other disciplines included in archeology, and thanks to it, many archaeologists have helped the excavation sites and contributed to The speed of identification, completion and low costs compared to the previous excavations, which required great capabilities and a long time to determine the archaeological site from the normal hill, At the beginning, the archaeological survey was nothing more than a preliminary procedure that preceded the excavation, by which it determined its space and framework.
