This research aims to shed light on the study of transformational generative theory, and applies it to the Arabic language, and also to demonstrate the benefit of those laws that were established by a western scientist (Chomsky), and developed by his followers.
The Holy Qur’anic text was the best example in applying Transformational generative rules, and among these texts Surah( AL-Nahl), which was the best witness to the analysis of Arabic texts according to the transformational generative theory. I devoted this research to study the interrogative of Surah (AL-Nahl).
The main idea of this research was devoted to analyze the interrogative sentence according to the transformational generative theory, and also to clarify what the sentence is composed of in its two parts: the nominal sentence and the verb sentence, and refer it back to its nominal, verbal, or literal components, and then analyze the components of the compound elements with point out to the elements of interrogative in the blessed Qur'anic text.
The idea of the research referred to a topical and general interpretation of the blessed verse before entering into the analysis of its components and also indicated to the interrogative’s purposes in the blessed Qur'anic text.
The research came in two main axes, the first was about the transformational generative theory in Arabic grammar, with reference to the stages that theory has gone through since its establishment, and the second axis; It was an applied study on the interrogative in Surah (AL-Nahl) and then was a conclusion that included the most important results of the research.
