Abstract

This research may observe manifestations of Deep Structure for being one of Chomsky’s stanchions in his Generative Transformative Theory in light of Sibawayh’s book concerning Analytical Syntactic fields which are: Classification Field, Working Field, Structural Field, Semantic Content Field, and Epistemological Field. These fields actually modernize this research and highlights its content and joints. In spite of the remarkable development of modern linguistics and being into sub-branches of verified and different schools and directions, this research finds it derives its vocabularies from Sibawayh’s book. Especially, when putting it in consideration that Chomsky had studied Arabic grammar, Sibawayh’s book, in a stage of his life; in which for Chomsky, the concept of Generative Theory and specifically the Deep Structure as being coincidental with what is mentioned in Sibawayh’s book was not something happening fortuitously. However, Sibawayh’s book had evidently echoed Chomsky’s perspectives. The concept of the Deep Structure for Sibawayh can be found in his Grammatical hypotheses in which he explicated the Arabian speeches under variant expressions like (Act without Words, Transitivity, In Place of, As if you said …) in addition to his other mechanisms of explication Sibawayh's use of an explanatory mechanism (as if you said) means that he moved from the linguistic surface to its depth to explain its meaning, and this is in common with Chomsky, who considered the deep structure to depict the latent meaning in the soul of the speaker in his mother tongue. Sibawayh revealed it with a certain explanatory mechanism.

We can employ the issue of origin and branch in Sibawayh with what Chomsky represents them in the deep structure and the superficial structure, on the basis that the original corresponds to the sub-structure and the sub-structure is the superficial structure of the transformers
