Abstract

The Current Research dealt with motivated reasoning among university students. Research objectives: To identify: (1- motivated reasoning among university students, 2- differences in motivated reasoning according to the gender variable (males - females) among university students, Research methodology: descriptive-comparative method. Research Sample: number (200) male and female university students, Research Tool: A scale was built for the research variable (motivated reasoning) based on the theory adopted in the current research, and the validity and reliability of the scale were conducted, Statistical Methods: The research data were processed using statistical methods that are compatible with the nature and objectives of the research through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Research Results: (1- University students have high, statistically significant motivated reasoning, 2- There are no differences in motivated reasoning according to the gender variable among university students). The research results were interpreted according to the theory adopted in the current research, and the research concluded with Recommendations, including: (- To the Ministry of Higher Education to work on directing those in charge of the educational process to hold lectures aimed at educating students on how to Dealing with motivated reasoning to reach the reasons behind their biases), and Suggestions including: (Conducting a similar study on different samples such as middle school students and employee samples)
