Abstract

Despite the young age of Amr ibn Harith, who lived in the era of the message, he was one of those who lived during the era of the message, and it was said that they spoke directly about him, in addition to his talk about some of the companions about the Messenger (peace be upon him) or his talk about religious, political, social and economic issues during the period in which he lived, extending from the era of the message through the Rashidun era, until his death in the year 85 AH/704 AD, during the era of the Umayyads. He had a role in the Rashidun era in the Battle of Al-Qadisiyah in the year (16 AH/637 AD) and participated in the Arab Islamic conquests, in addition to his commercial role. In the Umayyad era, he carried out political, social and economic activities, and appeared clearly in the commercial field, so he became one of the major merchants in Iraq in both eras. He was famous for his vast wealth, especially with regard to the trade of spoils, as the origin of his vast wealth came from that, in addition to the possibility of  He benefited from the work of his loyalists and their correspondence, as most of them worked in several economic professions, so he was one of the richest men in Kufa. It was noted that he was an observer of the balance of political power, and he had the ability to maneuver, and then change his political positions, in a way that was consistent and harmonious with his personal and economic interests, and to this he knew how to benefit from some of the active political forces, in other words this Quraishi merchant was a representative of the spirit of commerce that found that achieving profits and its self-interest was the first driver In human motives away from moral values, so interest is the source, and it is the outlet in the behavior of Amr bin Harith, who was the product of a turbulent and heated era, and he kept pace with his era and acted according to an opportunistic, utilitarian vision, biased towards the rule of the Umayyads and their system.
