Malāmiḥ Al-Fikr Al-lughawī Fī Shadharāt Al-Ghazzāwī

Abstract

The current  research deals with the most prominent linguistic thought's topics in the book " Shatharat Althahab" by Ahmed AlGhazawi, the research has concerned with four linguistic topics:

First Topic: linguistic rooting.

Second Topic: Semantic development in its all fields: (generalization of meaning, its specialization, its transfer, its elevation, and its decline).

Third Topic: Arabization and generation.

Fourth Topic: Linguistic correction, in both pronunciation and meaning.

The research aimed to highlight and study these topics; to reach findings that serve linguistic research, the most prominent of which was: adding new meanings in Shatharat AlGhazawi, that he has derived from contemporary usage, enriching the linguistic heritage, and other findings recorded in the research's conclusion.

The study proved that semantic development has an impact on changing the meaning, and is a means of enriching the meaning.

- Al-Ghazawi paid attention to Arabization and generation; because they are among the most important factors that help the growth and expansion of Arabic; to absorb the new meanings and concepts provided by modern civilization.

- The study showed that when Arabic borrows some foreign words, some of their sounds are replaced; with sounds that suit Arabic.

- The study proved that generating new vocabulary that denotes new meanings is common in the modern era through coining and derivation.

- Al-Ghazawi made some mistakes in the aspect of linguistic correction, whether in the verbal or semantic aspect.

- Among the characteristics of a successful linguistic proofreader are patience and deliberation, and exploring the depths of the language before issuing his judgments
