Abstract

The current research seeks to define the concept of social values, what they are, and their role in the life of the individual and society, in addition to determining the nature of the functions carried out by those social values, as they act as general standards that direct the behavior of individuals, and they also determine the way in which the individual presents himself to others. The research also seeks to identify the variables facing society as a result of the rapid developments brought about by globalization and the communications revolution and the changes it left behind in intellectual life, customs, traditions and social values, and since young people are the group most affected by these changes and that their stage is the stage of self-realization, so we always find them leaving They are out of the ordinary and try to form their own values, which contradicts the nature of social values that have been formed over hundreds of years through which society seeks to preserve its identity and perpetuate its continuity. The research reached a set of conclusions and recommendations, including: that social values are nothing but an expression of the product of social behaviors accumulated over hundreds of years and that preserving them is the preservation of society, security and stability, and that globalization in its various dimensions poses a great danger to the future of young people and leads them towards rebellion against their values social and destroy their cultural and civilizational identity. Among the recommendations that the research came out with is the need to involve social and religious institutions in the educational process through media channels in order to focus on values and ideals, as well as strengthening the national media orientation in order to promote the concept of positive social values in social life as a social necessity in order to build a secure society.
