Abstract

Described in its literal meaning, the term linguistics can simply be applied anddefined as the scientific study of language. This involves the different ways anddimensions through the help of which the use of language as sound and as well aslanguage is used in relation to the terms that comprise the crux of a language, thepronunciations of the words that are commonly used in a language and the dialectsthat are applied in the language (Bergen and Zinken, 2008). At the same time thescience also highlights and studies the cultural contexts and influences that developon a certain language over the passage of time and the ways through which alanguage undergoes the different stages of evolution at different phases of time.
