Abstract

This research deals with the life and poetry of one of the most prominent poets of Iraq, who did not come across a previous study, namely Sheikh Abbas Al-Athari Al-Hilli (D. 1318 AH). Therefore, Therefore, this research was the first scientific work on him and his poetry.

He was born in Hillah, and contacted many scientific and literary families in it, then to Baghdad after he moved there. He was known there and became famous, then he returned to his city, and died there.

          His poetry was collected three times, but all of that was lost as a result of the painful events that the city went through, and the sources of his translation helped us to prove some of it, especially with Sheikh Ali Al-Khaqani in his book (Poets of Hilla), and others.

We sought to find out his poetry after researching and pitting the various sources, and what we gained from the Qazwini manuscript and others, which was not mentioned by others. So that we stand on its contents that he deposited in it, and study it in light of that an objective and technical scientific study.

We conducted the research on three topics, the first one covered his life, his upbringing, his elders, his family and his divan, while the second one dealt with the topics of his poetry that he wrote and organized in it, and the third and the last one promoted the task of artistic study of his poetry, in terms of internal and external rhythm, language, and artistic construction, then A conclusion reveals the most important findings of the research, and our sealed it confirms the manuscript and printed references and references adopted in its inking.
