Supplication in War: A Comparative Study between the Holy Qur’an and Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya

Abstract

Supplication is considered one of the best acts of worship to draw closer to the Creator, the Almighty, and it has been encouraged by God Almighty, the prophets, the imams, and all the scholars. Supplication is a divine command, it came in the form of a supplication request, and it is pure worship coupled with an answer and a gift. Accordingly, the study aimed to know the effects of supplication on the military side in the light of the Holy Qur’an and the Sahifa al-Sajjadiyyah.

The research was divided into an introduction, a preface, and three sections. The first section was entitled (The Verses of Supplication in War), and it included identifying the Qur’anic verses, the types of supplication in war, and the role of supplication in the steadfastness of Muslims, followed by the second section entitled: (Supplication in War in Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya), which contained On the significance of supplication in war in Sahifa al-Sajjadiyyah. As for the third section, it is entitled (Comparison between the two styles of supplication in the Qur’an and Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya), arriving at the conclusion that supplication is described as the strongest means of repelling harm, achieving what is desired, and making hearts attached to their Creator, Glory be to Him.

The research adopted the descriptive analytical method and its tools in induction, collection, analysis, and description. It followed the Qur’anic verses concerned with the subject of the research, in addition to tracking the relevant supplications in Sahifa al-Sajjadiyyah, extracting them, analyzing their ideas and describing them in order to achieve the desired goal of the research.
