Abstract

The phenomenon of drugs, their spread, circulation and abuse has become one of the most dangerous issues facing societies in the modern era. Today, it represents a serious threat on both the individual and societal levels. Indeed, drug abuse and addiction have become a problem facing different age groups in many societies at the present time. It is a scourge that spreads among young men and women, old and young, poor and rich. However, teenagers are one of the age groups most vulnerable to falling into this affliction, due to their weak experience in life and being easily deceived due to their incomplete maturity. One of the most important reasons that calls us to pay attention to the issue of the spread of drug abuse globally is that it is at the forefront of the scourges plaguing our society. The matter requires us to examine the phenomenon in society itself and within its framework, because the individual is the product of the social and economic conditions in which he is born and raised, and this is what has been confirmed by the human sciences such as sociology, social anthropology, and psychology. Therefore, through this scientific article, we are trying to find a convincing explanation regarding the phenomenon of drug abuse, through a review of some psychological theories. The social explanation for the behavior of drug use and addiction, and its impact on the person who uses drugs and society. Emphasizing the importance of family education and its important role in reducing drug abuse and its spread.
