Abstract

The orientalists were interested in studying the revelation and prophecy of the Messenger of God Muhammad  and assigned many accusations to him to make the issue of Islam nothing but a lie fabricated by Muhammad and there is no basis for revelation or connection with heaven, so they began writing books and publishing research to refute this issue, and there are many names that spent a lot of time in this matter  The likes of Goldziher and others whose primary concern was to refute the revelation and cancel the prophecy. As for Marshal Hodgson, he did not follow in their footsteps, but rather had a view that was almost different from them. He deals with the issue of revelation with some fairness and moderation, away from attacks, accusations and allegations, but he dealt with it in an acceptable research manner within the framework of the usual research.  With the presence of some inconsistencies and unsuccessful propositions, which we dealt with in our research The Adventure of Islam is a very important and new orientalist reference in the field of research. The opinions of the Marshal were characterized by moderation and lack of religious extremism. Most of the opinions of the Marshal were inspired by the books of the Muslims themselves, and he transferred and commented on them. Nothing came from him in the narrations. The issue of revelation occupied an important part of his book, which prompted us to study it. He did not address it in passing, but rather it occupied great importance in his book. He addressed the state of the Prophet when the revelation came down.
