Abstract

The study aims to shed light on the reality of medium-sized industrial establishments in Babil Governorate, and to draw a picture of the spatial distribution of medium-sized industries among administrative units. This study relied on the systematic approach to shed light on one phenomenon, which is the spatial analysis of the distribution of medium-sized industries in Babil Governorate for the period (2022-2024), in addition to using the quantitative analytical approach, based on several criteria (number of factories, number of workers, quantity of production, value of workers' wages, value of production requirements and added value), and to show the spatial relationships of the geographical distribution in the districts in which the industrial branches were concentrated (food industries, construction industries, chemical industries). The study concluded that the geographical distribution of medium-sized industrial establishments in Babil Governorate was determined according to the value-added criterion, which is one of the most important measures in diagnosing the achieved economic profitability, as the value-added in the food industries sector amounted to about (10,418,136) million dinars, at a rate of (74.8%) of the total value-added of medium-sized industries in Babil Governorate, while the value-added in the construction industries sector amounted to about (2,004,289) million dinars, representing (14.4%) of the total added value, while the added value in the chemical industries sector accounted for about (10.8%)
