Abstract

Objectives: This analytical study aims to search for the truth of the Kaf first, is it a letter or a name, then it stands on the direction of the Kaf in the Almighty's saying "Ara'aytaka" in the Holy Quran secondly, to see the direction closest to the truth from these directions.

Methodology: This study relied on the statistical analytical method for the number of occurrences of "Ara'aytaka" in the Holy Quran. It collected the opinions of the sheikhs of the Basra and Kufa schools and discussed the disagreement in the desired issue.

Results: The analytical study indicated that the Kaf in (Ara'aytaka) has three directions, two of them for the Kufa school, the third for the Basra school and most scholars agree with it.

Abstract: The analytical study revealed that (Ara'aytukum) is a special formula whose original composition is: the second person singular (subject) taa', and the letters came after that to indicate numbers: Ara'aytukum for the one addressed, Ara'aytukum for the female addressed, Ara'aytukumum for the dual, Ara'aytukum for the masculine plural, Ara'aytukunum for the feminine plural, and in all of them the taa' came open. (Ara'aytukum) this with the damma of the taa became for the speaker, meaning did I see you? I did not inquire in this form and all of them came open with the taa', and this is what the imams of grammar relied on in directing the kaf.
