Abstract

The relations between India and the Soviet Union are one of the most important relations between the Soviet Union and the Asian countries. These relations were based on alliances, agreements and treaties between the two countries that lasted from post-World War I until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 . The Soviet Union found in India a strategic ally for several reasons, most notably that India was a huge human force can be exploited in various fields, as well as India was the source of destruction of Soviet investments in India, adding that the Asian region was living in the Cold War Between the United States and the Soviet Union and every party trying to attract the largest number of countries to his side in order to win a bet in that sensitive region. The United States chose Pakistan and began to support it with great force, while the Soviet Union chose India as its ally in Asia. On the political side, the leaders of the two countries exchanged visits between them since the establishment of the Indian government until the collapse of the Soviet Union. On the economic side, the Soviet government supported the Government of India with enormous economic aid either through loans or through the Soviet Union. Grants, while the Soviet support on the military side a large space represented by equipment, missiles, aircraft and warships. This Soviet-Indian alliance remained in place until the collapse of the Soviet Union
