This study examines nostalgia and its manifestations in the poetry of Himn Mukriyani. Its primary objective is to explore this psychological and literary phenomenon within the poet’s works and to identify its major forms. The study begins with a theoretical framework and subsequently employs a descriptive-analytical approach to investigate the representation of nostalgia in selected poems. The analysis highlights several principal dimensions of nostalgia, including nostalgia for childhood, nostalgia for youth, nostalgia for homeland and birthplace, and nostalgia arising from separation from loved ones.
The findings reveal that nostalgia in Himn Mukriyani’s poetry is not merely a simple recollection of the past; rather, it functions as an artistic device through which the poet expresses inner suffering, reinforces personal and collective identity, and evokes a profound sense of attachment to homeland and loved ones. The study further demonstrates that displacement, migration, and separation from the homeland constitute major factors contributing to the intensification of nostalgic feelings throughout his poetry.
In conclusion, the research argues that nostalgia serves as a fundamental poetic element in Himn Mukriyani’s works, contributing to the creation of emotionally powerful, aesthetically rich, and semantically profound texts. As a result, his poetry occupies a distinguished position within Kurdish literary tradition and offers a significant representation of the human experience of longing, memory, and belonging.
