Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of modern educational tools in developing Arabic listening skills among learners through the use of the Gemini application as an interactive intelligent learning assistant. The study adopted a quasi-experimental methodology based on a pre-test and post-test design involving an experimental group and a control group, in order to measure the impact of using the application on improving listening comprehension skills and students’ motivation to learn Arabic.

The researcher employed a pre-test and post-test to assess the level of listening skills, in addition to a questionnaire designed to measure students’ motivation and attitudes toward the use of the Gemini application in the educational process. The experiment was conducted on a sample of 30 students from the Department of Arabic at Garmo University, who were equally divided into two groups. The experimental group was taught using the Gemini application as a learning assistant to develop listening skills for a period of two months, while the control group was taught using traditional teaching methods.

The results of the study revealed statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group in the post-test of listening skills, indicating the effectiveness of using the Gemini application in enhancing listening comprehension and improving students’ linguistic performance. The questionnaire results also showed an increase in students’ motivation, self-confidence, and positive attitudes toward learning through artificial intelligence technologies. The study recommends providing teachers with appropriate training on integrating artificial intelligence technologies into listening skill instruction and offering the necessary technical support to effectively implement these technologies in classroom settings.
