Abstract

By studying formations and ranks of military leaders in the Islamic East during the era of states independent of the Abbasid Caliphate the importance of the subject emerged from its being an addition to the studies that are concerned with the internal organizations of the army, equipment and their ranks. It is necessary to know the sources of military power and to know the meanings of ranks and titles and to know their tasks and duties, as this research has several objectives, including: - stating the most important leaders of the striking forces and identifying the support and administrative formations.

It turned out that the most important striking forces are: (Commander of the Armies, Corps Commander, Pay Master, Assistant, Lieutenant Colonel, Captain, Knight Commander, Colonel, Sergeants and corporals)

As for the leaders of the support formations, they are: (Prince of the Guard, Commander of the horses, Military official, Commander of the Volunteers, Post, Armament Director, Treasury Manager, Equipment Manager, Drum major.
