The skill of building hope among educational counselors

Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the skill of building hope among educational counselors and whether there are statistically significant differences at a significance level of (0.05) for the skill of building hope according to the gender variable (males and females) and according to the variable of years of service (5-20) years. The research sample consisted of (100) male and female counselors in the Baghdad/ Rusafa Directorate. After reviewing the literature and theoretical foundations, a scale of the skill of building hope was built and then applied to the sample. The results showed that the sample possesses the skill of building hope, in favor of females and those with twenty years of service. Therefore, the research reached a number of recommendations and proposals.

Conducting ongoing training courses for educational counselors to develop counseling skills such as communication, listening, empathy, and instilling hope, among others, to benefit their counseling work. Activating psychological counseling within schools and providing counseling units with all the necessary equipment that contributes to and supports its development and sustainability. Addressing the problems faced by educational counselors within educational institutions, and attempting to overcome the difficulties they face to enable them to perform their counseling work in the best possible manner.
