Sianism in the poetry of Abu Al-Ala Al-Maarri

Abstract

This research attempts to study a literary phenomenon found in Al-Ma’arri’s poetic blog, and the researcher named it (equalism).It means that al-Ma'arri equates between contradictory concepts or antagonisms and declares a settlement between them without giving preference to one over the other.Behind this lie several concepts, including: Al-Ma’arri is tired of this complex world, which weighs heavily on this weak human being,He was striving for a world of simplicity.  Or that al-Ma’arri sees in these dualities nothing but concepts devoid of their true meaning, and they are just idiomatic labels that emanate from religion or society.equalism in al-Ma'arri's poetry went through two phases, the first;  In the (ديوان سقط الزند), and at this stage equalism does not form a phenomenon.And the equalism in (سقط الزند) does not express more than a position towards death, as it is a vision stemming from this inevitable judgment that we must die.but in (اللزوميات), which is the second diwan of Al-Ma’arri, the features of the phenomenon in it have increased, just as there are many sides of the dualities that Al-Ma’arri equals between them،It started include almost all dualities.

The type of equalism also differed in this blog, as it began to express the loss of the essence of things and their characteristics that distinguish them, and the loss of the essence of concepts.Thus, Al-Maarri demolished many idiomatic edifices, including richness and poverty, eloquence and melody, mosques and brothels, evil and good, sterile and fertile, beautiful and ugly, the son of adultery and the son of the lawful, the funeral and the wedding, and other.
