The Level of Secondary Stage Female Students in Understanding Literary Texts

Abstract

The research aims to know the level of secondary stage students in understanding Literary texts. The researcher choosed asample of his research randomly and applied the test on AL- thawra and Shat al-arab secondary.The research sample reached (60) students. The researcher built astandard in understanding of literary texts. It included (13) items distinguished among three spaces The researcher Corrected students replied acording to the standard. The researcher treated his data statistically by using person correlation, Arithmetic mean and percentage). The results appeared a weakness in the Level of Literary fifth students in understanding Literary texts.

Weak level of middle school students in understanding literary texts. Students' inability to explain literary texts comprehensively based on scientific foundations. 3- Students' inability to link literary texts to reality or the environment. Teachers' failure to adopt a clear standard in explaining literary texts to students. Students' focus in explaining literary texts on the main idea and neglecting partial ideas.
