Almost all EFL students struggle with written composition, which lowers their grades. The researcher noted these issues and intended to trace them back in order to mitigate their effects. To satisfy the goal of the current research, a sample of (15) compositions of the second stage EFL students in the Department of English/College of Education for Girls/University of Mosul were chosen as the data of this research. The findings reveal that the participants encounter many problems in writing composition. Low language skills, poor writing practice, and interference from one's mother tongue are all potential causes of such issues. A number of recommendations are made to improve students' writing skills.
