Abstract

This study aims to find out the extent to which Ahmed Matar's poetic experience has been influenced by journalistic writing. It mainly focuses on studying the characteristics of sturcture in his poetry collection titled "Lafitat 1". The descriptive, analytical approach and statistics are taken as a method in this study. Since the “(Lafitat) ” is a poetic structure and the “news” is a journalistic form - the two terms around which the work revolves - it is necessary to define the two terms before analysingthe statement in Matar’s journalistic experience and before researching the textual marks that confirm that the “(Lafitat) ” has absorbed the structural characteristics of the journalistic news. The study reached a number of results. Perhaps the most important of them is summarized in two prominent phenomena: The first is that the poetic text in the collection “(Lafitat) 1” opens with verbal narrative sentences that indicate the event, resorts to the inverted pyramid that presents the most important information over the important information and prefers conciseness over lengthening and clarity over ambiguity. All these characteristics are characteristics of journalistic news. The second is that the poem, even if its structure resembles journalistic news, is a discourse destined for annihilation and disappearance. It preserves the elements which make poetry a form of discourse that seeks immortality and endurance as much as possible.
