Obstacles to Preparing Dictionaries of Scientific Terminology in the Kurdish Language

Abstract

The first steps of establishing the principles of any science, begins with creating the dictionary of its terminology. In the field of researches of Kurdish literature some terminology dictionaries have been published. They are not without problems, least of which is not using the scientific principles but every day vernacular or jargon. The steps of the stages of creating and usage of the concept of the terms have been ignored. Rather those terms have been taken directly from other languages’ lexicon or they have been translated or modified from them. Or have been uttered with a symbol.

        This research strives for the selection of terms according to the scientific analysis of their concepts, and the removal of the entanglement that exists in their meanings. Through cementing of the forms, functions and effects of these terms, their scientific objective will ben gained. Creating of curriculums will be easier and the work of the research of any field will be more straight-forward. It will also balance the two aspects of; easing of the institution of the philosophical principles, and increasing opportunities for innovation, in any scientific field.  To find the answers to these questions. Efforts have been made to identify the problems that hinder the implementation of terms and the preparation of their dictionaries. The principles of scientific terms should be formulated according to the rules of Rene Cartesian method and according to the theory of speech occurrence and the theory of central meaning, so that according to each specialty its specific terms can be collected in a separate dictionary.
