Abstract

The school is considered one of the most prominent social institutions that significantly contributes to shaping students' national identity. It is not merely a place of education, but also the environment where students interact with one another culturally, linguistically, and historically through the curriculum. The school transmits and instills societal values in students, helping to build a sense of national identity, belonging, and loyalty to the homeland. The school is no longer simply a means of intellectual development; it has become a vast institution with its own goals, functions, and roles. It reaches deep into the students' lives, shaping the necessary social attitudes to facilitate their social integration, particularly their national identity.

We can anticipate the school's role in shaping identity in the future, in light of global challenges and globalization. This necessitates concerted efforts to establish and strengthen national identity through curricula and the educational process, in order to cultivate a generation imbued with social and national values for its future development. The school is not the only place for shaping national identity among students, but as an institution with organization, programs, and curricula, it has a profound impact on instilling national belonging and national identity, and the functions it is required to perform, the roles it plays, and its impact on student behavior, especially when this process is carried out with educational awareness that balances national and patriotic belonging with openness to global diversity, and pride in one’s identity with respect for other identities.
