Abstract

This research aims to determine the nature of distance education and its effectiveness in confronting modern changes in the field of teaching history in particular. The researcher hopes through it to add something to human knowledge by addressing some of the problems of distance education. The researcher also used the descriptive analytical method, which is based on describing and interpreting data and identifying the circumstances and relationships that exist in reality. Analysis is a tool by which phenomena can be expressed and described accurately. The researcher used the questionnaire, which is the most widely used data collection method and is a tool that includes a set of partial phrases and sentences. Several results were reached, the most important of which are: The results showed that distance education addresses a reality full of variables and innovations, and at the same time, distance education must adopt an integrated philosophy with exciting principles and applications. Among the most important principles on which distance education relies are flexibility, learner control, and the choice of educational message delivery systems. It was found that there were no statistically significant differences attributed to the effect of academic qualification (educational qualification, non-educational qualification). It was found that distance education is one of the new educational formulas in teaching history and is considered one of the educational models that contribute to providing the individual with knowledge and science without being bound by the condition of full attendance of the enrollee, and does not impose restrictions on acceptance as in traditional education; through means of communication between the learner and the educational institution.
