Abstract

The classification of industrial structures is considered a fundamental basis for organizing data and information related to industrial sectors and factories. It also serves as a strong incentive for planning and developing the industrial sector in any region. This classification acts as a foundation for organizing industrial branches and processes, and includes indicators such as the number of factories and workers. According to the International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC), the industrial structure of the Zakho Autonomous Administration includes a variety of industrial branches, totaling 12 main categories: semi-metallic, food, carpentry, chemical, plastic, mineral, paper, glass, electrical, textile, and other industries. The research problem is related to answering the following question: What are the industrial branches that represent the industrial sectors in the Zakho Independent Administration? The main objective of the research is to analyze the industrial structure in the Zakho Autonomous Administration according to industrial branches, the number of factories and the workers. The total number of factories and industrial institutions in the Zakho Autonomous Administration is 1,664, employing 6,440 workers. The total area occupied by all these industrial units is 3,003,277 m², which represents 0.14% of the total area of the Zakho Autonomous Administration.
