This research addresses a critical yet under-investigated religious dimension: peacebuilding in Islam and Christianity. The study specifically focuses on humanitarian foundations—namely human dignity, the right to life, and human equality—and their profound impact on fostering peace, illustrating how human dignity, the right to life, and equality transform both the individual and society.
The study demonstrates that these humanitarian foundations in Islam and Christianity, and the fulfillment of their rights in their prescribed manner, inherently aim to construct a practical, authentic, and sustainable peace. This is achieved because it establishes peace on a humanitarian basis, thereby realizing peace among individuals on this foundation, which subsequently expands the circle of peace to encompass the broader society.
Furthermore, the research highlights the close convergence between Islam and Christianity regarding their humanitarian foundations and ultimate objectives. As monotheistic faiths sharing a divine origin, their ultimate purposes align.
Finally, the impacts of these humanitarian foundations on peacebuilding are real and tangible, differing fundamentally from other secular peacebuilding projects. Religious peace relies simultaneously on both the material and spiritual dimensions, addressing both the intellect and the heart. Consequently, religiously grounded peace proves to be more profound, comprehensive, and enduring than alternative peacebuilding frameworks.
