Abstract

This research addresses an important issue in Qur’anic and rhetorical studies, namely the study of the Qur’anic citations found in Nahj al-Balaghah through an interpretative and analytical perspective based on the book Durrat al-Safa fi Tafsir A’immat al-Huda (peace be upon them). The study aims to reveal the unique exegetical status of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and to demonstrate how, through his sermons and sayings, he established principles for understanding the Holy Qur’an and provided distinguished practical models for extracting the meanings and implications embedded in the Qur’anic text.

The research is divided into an introduction, four chapters, and a conclusion. The first chapter is devoted to introducing the primary sources of the study (Nahj al-Balaghah and Durrat al-Safa). The second chapter discusses the theoretical aspect of Imam Ali’s exegetical personality and his principles for understanding the Qur’anic text. The third chapter presents and analyzes selected examples of Qur’anic citations in light of Durrat al-Safa fi Tafsir A’immat al-Huda (peace be upon them). The study concludes with several findings, the most significant of which is that Durrat al-Safa represented an important link in transmitting and documenting the exegetical heritage of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). Furthermore, Imam Ali (peace be upon him) established an exegetical school based on eliciting meanings from the Qur’anic text and identifying its applications with precision, free from artificiality and unnecessary complexity. In this study, the researcher employed a descriptive-analytical approach by: describing the phenomenon under study (Qur’anic citations) and identifying their sources; analyzing the texts interpretatively to highlight the relationship between the Imam’s (PBUH) words and the Qur’anic verse; and citing passages from *Durrat al-Safa* and other exegesis works to substantiate the analysis.
