This research, entitled "Diplomatic Language as a Tool for Achieving Peace in Political Discourse (Nechirvan Barzani's Speech as a Model)," addresses the analysis of diplomatic language strategies in contemporary Kurdish political discourse. The significance of the research lies in paving the way for benefiting from certain aspects regarding how leaders and orators in their speeches can utilize diplomatic language techniques. The research was conducted according to the descriptive statistical methodology. The research established a theoretical framework consisting of (7) characteristics of diplomatic language and (4) main functions of diplomatic language, which was then applied statistically and practically to one of Mr. Nechirvan Barzani's speeches. The research results showed that the aforementioned speech, with an overall percentage of (88%), falls within the framework of diplomatic language, and that the most prominent characteristics were "diplomatic terms and protocols, soft and formal words, and respect," while the most frequently used functions were "conveying information" and "conscious dialogues," which manifest in varying proportions throughout the speech.
The research concludes that the use of diplomatic language in the analyzed speech was a strategic and pragmatic choice to calm the situation and promote dialogue. This work is considered a contribution to the field of linguistics and political discourse analysis and opens the door for future research. This research consists, in addition to the introduction, limitations, and objectives of the research, of two sections: the first section addresses (concepts and definitions within the framework of diplomatic language), and the second section is devoted to (the practical application to one of Mr. Nechirvan Barzani's speeches).
