This research examines the role of the United Nations in combating the ISIS terrorist organization in Iraq after the group’s expansion in 2014. The study analyzes the political, security, humanitarian, and institutional mechanisms through which the UN supported Iraq in confronting terrorism and stabilizing affected areas. It focuses on the activities of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), UN counter-terrorism frameworks, humanitarian coordination, and international cooperation against ISIS. The importance of the topic lies in understanding how international organizations contribute to counterterrorism, post-conflict recovery, and state stabilization. The research finds that the UN played a significant supportive role through humanitarian assistance, coordination of international aid, capacity-building, and promotion of political dialogue, although its impact remained limited by security constraints and dependence on member states’ cooperation.
