After the collapse of the Aylul revolution, the Balakayety region went through a very sensitive situation, as it had previously served as the headquarters of the revolutionary leadership. Therefore, Iraqi forces developed strong hostility toward the people of the area. Immediately after the collapse of the revolution, government forces returned to the region. The tops of the mountains and hills were turned into military shelters. In addition, checkpoints were established on most roads and bridges to monitor the local population.
When political parties in Southern Kurdistan declared a new armed revolution and its activities reached Balakayety, the behavior of state security agencies and military forces became even more violent toward the people. This had a negative impact on public attitudes and beliefs, leading to protests against the Ba’ath authorities. Over time, armed detachments were formed in the area and began carrying out military activities against Iraqi forces.
This article prompted me to begin writing a research study consisting of two main discussions. The introduction is devoted to the early establishment of political parties in Kurdistan and their impact on the Balakayaty region. In the first discussion, I highlight the emergence of primary units in Balakayaty and the military actions they carried out after the first half of 1976. In the second discussion, I examine the situation in 1977, during which the region experienced a number of military events and activities.
In writing any research, the researcher must use one of the research methods. I used the method of historical narrative and analysis of events with the use of comparative method.
This research consists of two chapters. In the first chapter we discussed the emergence of political parties after the collapse of the September Revolution and their impact on the Balakaity region 1977, then we come to the conclusions of the research, then we end the research with a list of sources.
