Political socialization and the national identity crisis in Iraq: An analysis of the dynamics of power

Abstract

Political socialization, through its various tools and mechanisms, contributes to shaping individual psychology and societal structure, directly influencing collective consciousness and national identity. It is a fundamental factor in building a conscious society that feels a sense of belonging and loyalty to its national identity. However, this role can be reversed if political socialization is used to serve the ideology of the ruling power, leading to the biased politicization of public consciousness.

This research sheds light on the impact of political socialization in Iraqi society before and after 2003, and discusses its importance in establishing national dialogue and strengthening national identity. Political socialization in Iraq faces numerous challenges, and the central question of this study is: What is the impact of political, social, and economic crises on political socialization? What is the impact of the relationship between power and society on political socialization? What is the impact of the political model on political socialization?

We must recognize that political socialization is a complex process influenced by numerous factors, including the relationship between power and society, and political, social, and economic crises.

Therefore, we must work to strengthen political socialization in Iraq by improving the relationship between power and society and addressing political, social, and economic crises.
