Spatial Analysis of Educational Services in Al-Suniyya District for the Academic Year (2022-2023)

Abstract

The study of the spatial analysis of educational services is one of the important areas that has attracted the attention of researchers across various human and applied sciences, particularly in highlighting and understanding the spatial reality of these services in relation to the population size. This, in turn, clarifies the strengths and weaknesses in the spatial distribution of these services. The study revealed an increase in the number of students that exceeds the actual number of schools in Al-Suniyya District, both in the city center and in rural settlements. This has led to an increase in the number of students per school across all educational stages, surpassing the school's capacity. Most schools, especially in the city center, exceeded the local standards set to determine the maximum number of students per school. Furthermore, the number of students in each class exceeded the local criteria, which has significantly affected the academic performance in schools in recent years.

The study utilized efficiency measurement criteria to identify areas of deficiency, focusing on demographic and spatial standards. It revealed that the city of Al-Suniyya needs four new secondary schools, consisting of two intermediate and two preparatory schools, according to local standards. Additionally, there is a need to develop and increase the number of classes in rural secondary schools, as well as to convert the intermediate schools of Al-Mayyamin and Al-Dhahriyat into secondary schools.
