Abstract

Dialogue is a narrative technique that is incomplete without it, as it depicts characters who alternate in speech. There must be a speaker and an addressee, as it is more like a representation of verbal exchange and a general presentation of the characters in dialogue, in which the narrator digresses and moves away from his assigned role. Sometimes the dialogue becomes condensed and brief and compressed, especially in the story, and the author adorns his narration through dialogue in order to achieve a balance between events and plot. Dialogue also participates with the technique of description in furnishing the narration, and thus produces a growing line that appears clearly through the style in presenting the ideas that are attributed to the characters and are available to the reader. There is a connection between the reader's thought and the characters' thought; because dialogue is one of the most important methods of expressing the self or place or The dialogue embodies the reality that the characters live, so there is no substitution (removing the narrator from his position) but rather a conscious presence. The importance of dialogue appears in presenting speech through the dialogue scene that completes parts of the conversation or perhaps immersion in the technique of description or specifying a place and time. The dialogue in the novel The Bookseller's Murder is divided into two types: The first: Internal dialogue (indirect), which is the dialogue that the characters do not know about, but is exclusively between the character and is also called. No one knows its thoughts, not even the narrator. The second: External dialogue (direct), which is the dialogue in which two or more characters are represented through conversation to reveal the character's condition. Then the research was concluded with a conclusion of the most important results we reached, and a list of sources and references
