Abstract

There is no doubt that the history of the Kurds and Kurdistan has captured the attention of many Iraqi Arab historians and writers, most notably the historian Abdul-Razzaq Al-Hasani. In his works, Al-Hasani addressed the political history of the Kurds and Kurdistan, despite his nationalist intellectual and political orientation, showing a distinct interest in Kurdish affairs and their history. In most of his books, he treated the Kurds and the Kurdish issue as an integral part of the history of Iraq. He also focused on Kurdish political and party life, incorporating it into his book on the history of Iraqi political parties, which is considered an essential source for understanding the development of political and party life in Iraq in general, and at the same time, an important reference for understanding the Kurdish political and party movement. This was the primary motivation for selecting this topic: "Kurdish Political Associations and Parties (1918–1946) in Abdul-Razzaq Al-Hasani's 'History of Iraqi Political Parties'".

The importance of this research lies in studying the stance of the Iraqi historian Abdul-Razzaq Al-Hasani toward the Kurdish political and party movement, especially given his proximity to the monarchy, which earned him the title "Historian of the Royal Era." The research aims to analyze Al-Hasani's writings regarding the Kurdish political and party movement, clarify his methodology, and compare his work with other reliable sources to uncover its level of objectivity and accuracy, and to evaluate it historically. This research is based on the book "History of Iraqi Political Parties" and historical sources on the subject.

The research plan consists of an introduction, a gateway and three topics with conclusions. Second: Kurdish Political Associations and Parties (1908-1922). First: Kurdish Political Associations and Parties (1922-1939). Fourth: Kurdish Political Associations and Parties (1939-1946).
