Abstract

This research aims to study and analyze the role of educational institutions in promoting peace values, considering that peace is one of the most important human values that form the foundation for building stable and developed societies. In light of the increasing challenges facing the contemporary world in terms of conflicts, wars, violence, and extremism, the need to build a comprehensive culture of peace through effective educational institutions has become an urgent and necessary matter. The research focuses on four main educational institutions that contribute to instilling and promoting peace values, namely: the family as the first educational institution, the school as a formal educational institution, the university as centers of knowledge and scientific research, in addition to the media which plays a significant role in shaping societal awareness.

The research problem lies in the absence of a clear and comprehensive understanding of the specific roles and practical mechanisms adopted by these institutions to promote peace values, along with weak coordination and integration among them. The research seeks to answer the main question: What is the role of educational institutions in promoting peace values? It also raises several sub-questions about the role of each institution separately, the obstacles they face, and ways to activate integration among them.

The research adopted the descriptive-analytical approach, through reviewing and analyzing theoretical literature, previous studies, and international experiences in the field of peace education. The research addressed in its various chapters the conceptual framework of peace and its values, then discussed in detail the role of the family in educating on peace values from the early stages of childhood, the role of the school through curricula, activities and learning environment, the role of universities in preparing cadres, conducting research and providing awareness programs, and finally the role of traditional and modern media in spreading the culture of peace or violence.
