Abstract

The Iraq-Iran war is an important and decisive event in the history of both Iraqi and Iranian peoples and the region. It had a direct impact on the Kurdish people and the Kurdish liberation movement. It had a clear reflection on the development and expansion of the Peshmerga activities. During this period, the Peshmerga forces dealt an effective blow to the Iraqi government forces and institutions. At the same time, it had a direct impact on the relationship between Kurdish parties and organizations, which became supporters of the war and joined one of the two governments. There was also the interference of both the Iraqi and Iranian governments in the Kurdish liberation movement. This research consists of two topics. The first topic is the impact of the war on the development and expansion of the activities of the Peshmerga forces against the Iraqi government forces. The second topic discusses the effects of the war and the role of Iraq and Iran in the relations between the Kurdish parties, which eventually made the civil war more bloody and several incidents and violent fighting between the parties. This study has used a number of different sources, including a variety of documents treated as original sources, as well as a significant number It is taken from the memoirs of personalities, most of whom either participated in the events and developments or witnessed the events. In addition, we have used newspapers and magazines of the time that recorded the events and information directly at that time. Other sources include books in Kurdish, Arabic, Persian and English, which contain several scientific and academic sources. This research consists of two topics: the first topic is about the expansion and development of the activities of the Peshmerga forces of Kurdish parties and organizations, and the second topic is devoted to the conflict and civil war between these parties and Organization and the influence of Iraq and Iran in their conflicts.
