Abstract

Political marriage was one of the most important diplomatic tools in the ancient world. As a political instrument in the history of the Median state, it significantly influenced political changes. Median kings sometimes arranged alliances with contemporary ruling families through political marriage to strengthen diplomatic relations, ensure border security, and consolidate and maintain their power. Thus, one of the most important political functions of political marriage was to build a strong alliance to resolve conflicts and consolidate power. However, in the history of the Median state, political marriage did not only serve to strengthen the state and maintain power, but it also played a crucial role in the eventual collapse of the Median state and was a factor in the transfer of power from the Medes to the Achaemenid Persians. Therefore, Political marriage was considered one of the decisive factors in determining the fate of the Median state. The research is divided into four topics, in addition to the summary, introduction, conclusions, list of sources and appendices. The second topic deals with the political marriage between Amitas and Nebuchadnezzar II. The third topic deals with the marriage of Astyages to Arenas Fourth, the political marriage of Mandani with Qambiz is mentioned.
