Epistemology in Islamic Sufism
Sufists and philosophers concentrated on the importance of Epistemology . This conclusion is achieved by determining the various ends the Sufist trends and schools , and by maintaining the relationship between Sufism and philosophy .
Reflection and imagination played an essential part in Islamic thought which makes a study of the different branches epistemology ( intellectual , sensational , emotional , instinctual , …. Etc . ) a necessity . Sufism passed by different historical , intellectual , philosophic and cultural periods . on the other hand , Sufism rejected all sensational and intellectual branches of knowledge , depending instead on emotional , individual and epiphanic trends that helps the sophist to achieve his ultimate goal .
Lt is his final reunion with the Infinite , or attaining his ultimate knowledge . This is one the essential trends in Islamic thought , before it knowledge passed by critical historical , social , or intellectual periods . so sophism spreads epistemological culture in the Islamic world by interaction between sofist epistemology and philosophy . moreover , sofism developed the critical reading of the extremist ideas of some Islamic sects as far as the science of kalaam
