This study aimed to know the effect of using the K.W.L strategy on the achievement of third-grade middle school students in Islamic education towards learning it in Iraqi schools in Anbar Governorate. This study was applied in the second semester of the academic year 2022-2023, where the quasi-experimental approach was used that is compatible with this study and the scientific material was determined from the curriculum, and a plan was prepared to teach the two groups and the measurement tool was designed represented by the achievement test. To ensure the validity of the tool, it was presented to a group of experts and some paragraphs were reformulated based on their observations. The study community consisted of third-grade middle school students in Anbar Governorate from Shajarat Al-Durr Mixed Middle School, where a sample of (61) students was selected from them. This sample was divided into two groups. The experimental group consisted of (30) students, while the control group consisted of (31) students. The experimental group studied using a modern strategy, which is K.W.L, while the control group studied in the traditional, conventional way. To answer the first question: What is the effect of using the K.W.L strategy on achievement in Islamic education for Third-grade middle school students in Anbar Governorate? The Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used and the results were that the null hypothesis was not accepted, and thus there was a statistically significant difference at the significance level (a=0.05) between the average achievement of students in the experimental and control groups attributed to the teaching method using the K.W.L strategy in favor of the experimental group that used this strategy. The answer to the second question was: Is there a relationship between the achievement of students in the experimental group and their attitudes? After analyzing the data, it was also found that the value of the Pearson correlation coefficient(PCC) r = 0.725, which is a high positive value, meaning that there is a positive direct relationship between academic achievement in Islamic education and attitudes towards learning it. This result means that the achievement of students who studied according to the K.W.L strategy has improved towards learning Islamic education. The researcher recommended many recommendations, such as conducting more research on this strategy compared to the traditional method, in addition to holding training courses for teachers to apply these strategies easily and smoothly.References
