The economic and social causes of the divorce phenomenon, and how to address them.Abstract
Divorce is a global phenomenon that is not specific to one society over another. The danger lies in the remarkable rise in its rates in recent years, a rise that now threatens the structure of these societies, because the family is the first building block for any society and its main component. Any threat to it affects the community at large.
Divorce is the social disintegration that afflicts the family, leading to the tearing apart of family ties, which causes the members of these families to become fragmented and distant, as is often the case. In some cases, it leads to the delinquency of the children who are the product of these families. Perhaps one of the reasons for its prevalence is that the procedural steps followed in the courts are easy. Therefore, there must be a setting of stricter measures so that the husband does not take the divorce of his wife lightly, or the wife does not take lightly the request for divorce has been permitted in most religious legislation and secular laws as a means to end the marital relationship in the event that its continuation between the spouses is impossible. It is resorted to in order to dissolve the bond of marriage between them due to incompatibility, one spouse hating the other, or for other reasons related to one or both of them. In recent years, divorce has become another social problem that is widespread in various parts of the world, including our Arab and Islamic societies, and Iraqi society in particular.
